613 Good Deeds

613 good deeds

The 10 Commandments really came from 613 Mitzvot, which means "Good Deeds" in Hebrew. We keep and guard them all, but each fall into categories of WHO can perform them. Our GOD is ONE of order, so let's take a look by whom these Good Deeds were meant to be performed.

These specific instructions we were given on Mt Sinai are comprised of 613 commandments, divided into 365 prohibitions and 248 obligations that the Sages say can cure everything, including the headache.

Of course, no individual is obligated to fulfill all the commandments — unless that person is both male and female single, married and divorced King, Cohen, Levi and Israelite — all at the same time, but we are all supposed to guard them and keep them!

The Sages believe that men, given their innate design, must be told in detail what and how life must be lived. Conversely, given a woman's innate design, she is already sensitive to chasing God, so fewer instructions are needed.
